Goals: Understanding the role of the urokinase receptor at the intersection between cell migration and cell proliferation.
Achievements: In the past we have first determined the molecular mechanism whereby uPA/uPAR induce a chemotactic response, by highlighting and identifying the existence of a chemotactic epitope in the uPAR molecule which is hidden in the absence of uPA: Subsequently we have identified in a G protein-coupled receptor (FPRL1, Formyl Peptide Receptor Like Protein-1) the trans-membrane ligand of the uPAR chemotactic epitope.
